11 Feb Meet Diego Bravo: Our Midnight Master Chef
This month, we’re thrilled to shine the spotlight on Diego Bravo, our talented PM Chef here at Sinplicity Catering. We put so much effort into our food that our kitchen is open almost 24 hours a day. Without Diego on the J.O.B, literally NOTHING would leave here on time. Leading a night crew of 6 cooks, his team cranks out most of our baked goods, desserts, and breakfast items. Basically, if it’s pretty, it passed through Diego and crews’ hands at some point in its journey to you.
Back in the old days, when we were renting kitchen space at The Birchmere (long story), we needed a dishwasher. Enter Mr. Bravo. A shy and baby-faced young man who didn’t have much experience. Observant, capable and thirsty for knowledge, he quickly become a cornerstone of the operation. Fast forward 18 years and we can’t imagine how we would have survived and thrived without him. All hail Diego Bravo. The pride of Puebla!
But don’t just take our word for it! We sat down with him to get a glimpse into his world and what drives him in the kitchen.
Q. What do you enjoy most about working at Sinplicity Catering?
Chef Diego: The opportunity to learn something new every day from the kitchen team, which helps me grow as both a cook and a person.
Q. What’s a memorable experience you’ve had while working here?
Chef Diego: When I first arrived, I knew nothing. Sinplicity taught me everything I know today, as well as what I still need to learn.
Q. What’s one thing people might not know about being a chef?
Chef Diego: We’re able to spend a lot of time searching for creative flavors to surprise and delight people’s palates. It’s a profession driven by a deep love for gastronomy.
Q. If you could have any superpower for a day, what would it be and why?
Chef Diego: The ability to teleport, so I could be with my family who live far away.
Q. Do you have a favorite sports team?
Chef Diego: The Chicago Bulls and The Commanders
Q. What’s your favorite food?
Chef Diego: Spaghetti & Pizza!
